If you love working in clay or want to unleash your creativity and passion on a new set of materials, then Canggu has some of the best pottery classes in Southeast Asia waiting for you to discover them.

We sent out our crack team to find places located around the area where you can learn hand-building and wheel-throwing pottery and these were the 8 workshops that they felt would enhance anyone’s artistic talents.

Our Top 8 Pottery Classes And Workshops In Canggu

Vagabond Design Lab

Vagabond Design Lab is the most popular of the local workshops and they can help you transform clay into stunning ceramics.

However, you should be aware that while everything you need is priced into the courses here, if you want to glaze your pieces, it takes 3 weeks to prepare the clay after it’s been thrown.

If you’re not in town for that long or you’re just interested in learning how to make your ceramics, then you can donate the finished product through the workshop to disadvantaged people locally.

We were really impressed with this studio, the materials are first rate and they really do ensure that you unleash your creativity and create something awesome.

Backus Ceramics

Backus is all about taking your ceramics to the next level and their workshops typically last for, at least, 3 days to ensure that you can get a firm grip of your art.

We found that they do a great job of introducing the craft and make sure that by the time you start to work with the clay, you see it as a more spiritual experience than it might have been otherwise.

The wheel-throwing lessons are really good and you will soon learn to fix any mistakes that you make and keep moving forward.

There’s something very therapeutic about working with ceramics at Backus and if you’re looking to develop a life long love of ceramics, this might be the place to kindle the flame.

Bumii offers quick workshops but it’s best known for its 6-week introduction course for those who want to get really serious about their ceramics.

The studio itself is a warm and welcoming space that is both cozy and comfortable. It’s smaller than Vagabond Design Lab but the work is just as intense.

You’ll be hand-building and wheel-throwing before you know it and the items you make from clay here are real works of art.

The teachers here help you tap into your creativity and really work the materials to produce things that you’re really proud of.
