FAQs

How Much Is A Massage In Canggu, Bali?

This is very much a how long is a piece of string question. A simple massage could be as little as 100,000 IDR in a basic spa. A package treatment including the spa’s signature essential oils, Asian-inspired body treatments, body scrubs, facial treatment, etc. might run as much as 2-3,000,0000 IDR.

That means you could spend as little as $6 USD or $10 AUD for an hour, or blow up to $200 USD or $300 AUD for a whole day of pampering.

Only you can decide if the Body Temple Ritual in your local spa is worth the price tag. We’d also note that other services such as beauty treatments or IV therapy can add even more to the cost of a day in a luxury spa here in Bali.

How Much Is A 1-Hour Massage In Bali?

There is no massage association or government regulation of massage pricing, so in theory, a spa can charge as much as the market will bear for its services.

In reality, a very basic spa will probably give you an hour of massage for as little as 100,000 IDR (plus tip, it’s important to tip in spas where there’s no marked service charge on the bill and this is the only time you’ll be expected to tip in Bali).

That’s about $6 USD or $10 AUD for a massage. However, if you want something special like a deep tissue bamboo massage or a sports massage or a hot stone massage in an upscale spa. You might pay around 3-4 times that amount per hour.

As with many things in Bali, it all boils down to how much you’re willing to pay and the quality of the service you expect. We would note, however, that a cheap spa using traditional Balinese massage techniques can often provide a similar quality of massage therapists as any other spa in town.

So, if you don’t need a deep tissue massage, it might be better to save some cash for another spa treatment and choose somewhere a little cheaper.

What Is The Difference Between A Balinese Massage And A Normal Massage?

There is no such thing as a “normal massage”, there are many different techniques in massage from sports massage, to deep tissue massage, to lymphatic drainage massage, etc.

So, it’s probably best to define what you can expect from a signature Balinese massage. They will tend to use some simple stretching (always kind and gentle motions), some acupressure (around the pressure points of your body), aromatherapy (always, so if there are essential oils that you don’t like – it’s best to speak to the massage therapists about this in advance) and reflexology.

A Balinese massage is usually focused on helping you relieve tension and stress and you’re meant to leave the massage feeling better than when you walked in the door. We know from the team at the Body Temple Spa at FINNS that this kind of massage is very popular.

What To Expect From A Balinese Massage?

Balinese massage is a very gentle form of massage and the end result is usually a form of deep relaxation that leaves you feeling energized and upbeat.

Many people consider this kind of massage to be one of the most blissful treatments that you can receive in a spa.
