You don’t have to go to Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen to enjoy authentic Chinese food, in fact, Indonesia has a large Chinese community who’ve brought the tastes of home to Bali.

Canggu is one of the most popular parts of the island, so it stands to reason that there are some great Chinese restaurants in the area for you to enjoy.

But which are the best Chinese restaurants in Canggu? Well, we sent out our happy street team to sample what’s on offer and to find the most amazing Chinese food here and these are the 10 restaurants that they chose.

The 10 Best Chinese Restaurants In Canggu, Bali

Monsoon Restaurant @ FINNS Beach Club

Monsoon isn’t an exclusively Chinese restaurant, instead it has one of the largest menus on the island and draws from multiple kitchens including Rice Daddy which makes some amazing Chinese food.

You can enjoy awesome views of the Indian Ocean and the FINNS Beach Club pools and guests having fun while you dine. In fact, you could even reserve a daybed and join them after your meal.

Try the Chinese Duck Leg, the Kung Pao Chicken and their amazing Dim Sum and you’ll be in seventh heaven. Life in Bali is always better at FINNS.

Island Wok Berawa

They have an unusual approach to food in Island Wok and while the majority of the menu is all traditional and Chinese fusion food, they also have a wide range of bagels available!

Their garlic butter prawns with broccoli are absolutely delicious and their fried won tons are among the best that we’ve ever tasted.

You’ll be glad to know that you don’t even have to visit Island Wok in person because they also offer their menu on the Grab and Gojek delivery platforms.

Wonton Club

If you love noodles, wontons and soup then you simply can’t go wrong at Wonoton Club and it’s one of the most reasonably priced places in Canggu.

You’ll find that they have regular buffet meals where you can eat all you want for a fixed price and you won’t regret attending one of those sessions, though you may have to let out your belt a little if you do.

Otherwise, we can heartily recommend the dumplings here which are bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. They’re our favourite.

Yumei Noodles

If you love Chinese beef noodles, you won’t want to miss out on the Sichuan Spicy Beef Noodles at this spot in Canggu.

We were really impressed with the flavour and if you’re not full after eating the first bowl, you can ask for free refills! So, no matter how large your appetite, you’re going to be satisfied here.

This is the ideal location for a meal with friend and family indulging in real Chinese comfort food that makes you feel just right.

XiaHouse Restaurant

We were blown away by the Dan Dan Noodles at XiaHouse the texture of the noodle was ideal and the combination of tastes danced on our tongues.

It’s not the easiest restaurant to find as it kind of lurks in a quiet corner of a less-visited street in Canggu but it’s worth putting in the effort to find it. The food is amazing.

We love the simplicity of the decor and the minimalist aesthetic it keeps you focused on how delicious everything is.

Chow Chow Bali

Chow Chow is an Asian Fusion restaurant so not everything on the menu is strictly Chinese but enough of the dishes are Chinese that we’ve included it on our list.

We found that the prices were very competitive for this popular part of Canggu and they often have price promos where you can get a lunch for very little money, indeed.

We recommend coming for their pork ribs, though, which are superb and just fall off the bone as you eat them.

SISTA Dumpling Berawa

They have a huge range of Asian fusion at SISTA and it’s not all Chinese, but their Chinese scrambled eggs are worth a shout out for a very interesting take on traditional eggs for breakfast.

Their use of pork belly is just sublime and if you, like us, appreciate the way that it can dissolve as it touches your tongue, you shouldn’t miss out on SISTA.

However, we should warn you that dishes here can err on the sweet side and you may want to ask your server to cut down on the sugar when preparing your food.

Shuang Xi Bali

If what you’re really in the mood for is some tasty Dim Sum, this restaurant specializes in hand made Dim Sum that’s made fresh all day long.

There are some very Singaporean influences on the food at this place, so it’s not entirely traditional Chinese.

One downside though is that the staff don’t really speak a huge amount of English and you will need to be patient when ordering and there’s not much chance of being able to customize your dishes as you’re unlikely to be understood unless you speak Bahasa Indonesia.

Ding Ding Hot Pot, Canggu

Ding Ding is all about traditional Sichuan hot pots and that means you’re going to do the cooking.

You start by choosing all the ingredients that you want from the menu, then the servers bring everything to your table and then you choose how to cook it in the broth.

There are two sides, a spicy side and a not-spicy side to the pan and you should be able to adjust the spiciness to suit your palate before you dive in and cook everything else.

You can also find a huge range of sauces at this place on the sauce bar running down the center of the restaurant – we recommend trying them all, at least, once.

FAQs

Is Chinese Food The Same As Indonesian Food?

No, the two cuisines are quite different and there are, in fact, several different schools of Chinese cookery – all of which are very different from each other and Indonesian food.

We always recommend that people try Balinese and Indonesian food during their Bali holiday but when you start looking for a change, Chinese food is a great option.

There’s a large Chinese-Indonesian community here and they have brought the flavours of China to Bali to share with you!

Do They Celebrate Chinese New Year In Canggu And Bali?

Yes, in fact, Chinese New Year is an official holiday in Indonesia and while it’s not the biggest holiday here – many Chinese people treat the Spring Festival in the same way as they do in China.

You can see lion dances, eat traditional meals, hear Chinese music and much more at this time of year. However, there’s no Chinese temple in Canggu, if you want to visit one of those you’ll need to head to North Bali.

What Are The Nicest Chinese Foods?

This is very subjective but we’d suggest that Dim Sum, Bao Buns, Honeyed Pork, Wontons, Dumplings, Peking Duck, Spring Rolls and Chinese Hot Pot would appear on that list.

There are many nice foods from China and some of our favourites include lamb dishes from Xinjiang where many of the people are Muslim and don’t eat pork.

Final Thoughts On The Best Chinese Restaurants In Canggu

There may not be quite as many Chinese restaurants in Canggu as there are Japanese restaurants but there are plenty of Chinese places to choose from.

You can enjoy a genuinely delicious and authentic meal here in Bali’s most popular area and most of the Chinese restaurants here are also not expensive unlike those on nearby Sunset Road.

We hope that your Chinese culinary adventure here is as exciting and enjoyable as our own has been.

If you like Chinese you will probably love these Indonesian, Thai, and Japanese places in Canggu too!
